How it Started
I grew up in Western New York with dirt under my fingernails and a genuine love for the natural world. At 12, I was growing pumpkins on a horse farm and selling them from a roadside stand. By 16, I was working real landscaping jobs — not just mowing lawns, but learning the craft from veterans who took pride in every stone they set and plant placed.
Through my years studying Communication at the University at Buffalo, I kept at it — running crews, installing hardscapes, working commercial sites and new home builds. The passion was growing as fast as my skill set, but as the completion of a degree neared, the pull of another path took hold.

A college degree pointed me toward a corporate future. So I went. Sales, public relations, operations management — I climbed. Regional Manager. Director. Corporate Spokesperson. By most measures, I was successful.
But I was never a good fit for corporate culture. The politics, the performance, the slow erosion of meaning — I was good at the job and miserable doing it. I kept coming back, in my mind, to the days I spent in the dirt. The simplicity of it. The honesty. The satisfaction of standing back and seeing something beautiful that hadn’t existed before.
Even then, I never fully let go. I took on projects at my own home and for friends. I earned certificates in Landscape Design, Arboriculture, and Landscape Horticulture — quietly, on the side — keeping a back-of-the-mind plan alive.
Return to Roots
After 20+ years in the corporate world, with a beautiful family and a crossroads in front of me, I made the call. I walked away. I came back to my roots — literally and figuratively. Deep Roots Landscape Co. is the culmination of that decision.
We don’t chase volume. We don’t cut corners. Our name goes on every job, and that name stands for craftsmanship, honesty, and work that exceeds expectation. This is my passion — and you’ll feel that difference from the first text to the final walkthrough.
